现在完成进行时
表示动作从过去某一时间开始一直延续到现在或离现在不远的时间。
（1）表示动作从过去某一时间开始一直延续到现在或离现在不远的时间。多用延续性动词。
Have you been waiting long for me? 你等我很久了吗？
（2）表示“刚才，近来”发生的动作，一般不再继续。
My hands are dirty. I've been cleaning the room. 我的手是脏的。我一直在打扫房间。
（3）表示动作的重复性。
You have been asking the same question these days. 你这些天一直在问同样的问题。

过去完成进行时（had been +ving）
（1）过去完成进行时表示动作在过去某一时间之前开始并延续到过去某一时间。这一动作可能己经停止或还在进行。过去完成进行时以过去时间为前提, 上下文中须有明示或暗示的过去的时间作为参照。
He had been studying English before entering the college.
在进入大学之前，他就一直在学习英语。
They had only been waiting for the bus for a few minutes when it came.
他们只等了几分钟公共汽车就来了。
（2）表示反复的动作，企图，情绪，最近的情况等。
He had been asking me the same question. 他一直在问我相同的问题。
I had been studying the meaning of the poem. 我一直在研究这首诗的意义。
He had been quarreling with his wife. 他一直在和他妻子吵架。
（3）过去完成进行时还常用于间接引语中。
I asked where they had been staying all those days. 我问他们那些天一直都待在哪里。
She told me that she had been waiting for me for an hour. 她告诉我，她已经等我一小时了。
（4）过去完成进行时和过去完成时的比较:
She had cleaned the office, so it was very tidy.（强调结果）她已经打扫过办公室了，所以很整洁。
